Communicable Disease Control

Communicable Disease Control reports image

Infectious disease survelliance is a core public health function.

Our epidemiologist, environmental health specialists and public health nurses collect, investigate, analyze and distribute information on the incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases, outbreaks, health events, zoonotic and vector-borne diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases in Licking County.

Information about outbreaks or unusual disease incidences are distributed to our healthcare providers through Health Alert Network notifications.

Flu Report

The majority of healthcare providers in Licking County voluntarily report the number of influenza cases that they diagnose each week to LCHD. This information, along with flu hospital admissions, and historical trends allows us to communicate risk and increase awareness when flu cases are on the rise. Our communicable disease nurse and epidemiologist track these reports.
